I wrote this book because the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me walk away from the life and legacy of Obed-Edom. That is strange because I have never once heard a sermon on Obed-Edom. There are two accounts in this book. One account is the history of the Golden Ark of the Covenant and its ultimate disappearance, as a transition to the new covenant in the blood and body of Jesus Christ, that was foretold by prophets but not seen by the people of this book. When Jesus came, in the fulness of time, there was no ark in the Temple. In fact, there was a period of prophetic and scriptural silence of about 400 years before John the Baptist appeared to prepare the way for God’s Son to introduce the new covenant. The other account is of Obed-Edom, his family, clan, and their descendants. Theirs is a story of honoring God and the things of God above all else. We see how King David was impacted by this and how the descendants of Obed-Edom were not only faithful but were used again, and again, to preserve the Ark of the Covenant. For this, God blessed them and honored them through their generations. It is a lesson to us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
